A down tree across from Hayden Ice Rink

image

Another view of the tree

image

Looking out over the settling pond toward the main pond

image

Normally there is separation between the ponds

image

And that fence shouldn't be underwater

image

So I guess I won't be skating today ...

image

Above the "beach" looking back toward the parking lot

image

You can see just a little bit of beach in the corner ...

image

A view from the walkway which is now a dock

image

Water is flowing over the beach and back toward Bridge School

image

It is a day later and the water level has risen considerably (LR)

image

That little bit of beach is now gone (LR)

image

The water is flowing down the road toward Bridge School (LR)

image

The low area back of the beach has been overwhelmed (LR)

image

And the picnic area is pretty well flooded (LR)

image

The Old Res last fall when there was still a rocky shoreline you could see ...

image

And a beach ...

image

A flooded out parking lot near Five Forks

image

This is really a pond of considerable size and at least 2 feet deep ...

image

A view from the other side of the pond. Yes, the ground floor offices are flooded.

image

Four days later only some mud remains.

image

The area between Stop & Shop and the Battle Green Apts.

image

BIG puddle on Lincoln Street across from the playing fields

image

More of the same

image

The Stop & Shop shopping plaza in Bedford

image

I won't enter ... I swear!

image

Some pictures from the sand & gravel operation near North Street

image

The same place four days later. Just a little water left on the right.

image

Looking out across what is usually dry land to Butterfield Pond

image

Behind the office looking toward the earthen dam on which Lowell Street runs

image

Close to the same view four days later. Now on the left you can see one of the streams feeding Butterfield Pond.

image

Another look toward the earthen dam

image

Four days later you can now see the streambed. The water was close to five feet deep here.

image

Another dry-day view of the place where just four days before the water was up to the base of the rocks.

image

One last look across what is now a lake

image

Four days later with just a little water left, the high water mark on the sand pile will give you an idea of how deep the water was.

image

The baseball field by the high school ready for a good game of floatball (JC)

image

Gooseball at the Blue Sox field (JC)

image

All set to combine swimming and track (JC)

image

The historic water problems at the Blue Sox field have gotten a bit worse (JC)

image

The home sidelines of Crumb Field are a little wet (JC)

image

Tough for the players and tough for the fans at Crumb Field (JC)

image

Just in case the last picture didn't get the point across ... (JC)

image

At North Street just before the sand & gravel operation. Guess I won't be using the bikepath today ...

image

Just four days later, the stream is back within its banks and the garden is exposed once again.

image

Speaking of bikes, this is the Minuteman Bikeway at the Revere Street crossing (PE)

image

This is normally a ditch with a small amount of water in it. (PE)

image

Some pictures around the Old North Bridge in Concord. This one is of the parking lot -- now a lake (DC/JL)

image

Ducks enjoying a new pond. The old cellar hole is also flooded. (DC/JL)

image

Washout on the path leading down from the Visitor Center (DC/JL)

image

Anybody ready to volunteer for trail work? (DC/JL)

image

By the rude flood that abridged the arch ... the Minuteman statue is now on a peninsula. (DC/JL)

image

I would love to hear a talk ... but the benches seem to have disappeared ... (DC/JL)

image

Another view of the Ranger Talk area. (DC/JL)

image

Ankle deep at one end and if the river gets any higher, the bridge will be an island. (DC/JL)

image

If you are headed for the Visitor Center, better bring boots. Very high boots. Or a boat. (DC/JL)

image

One last reminder that life is not always better one town over ...

image

But as I walked to work on Tuesday, there was a sign of hope ...

image

The sun was out and Stop & Shop was watering their lawn. Coals to Newcastle or life must go on? You choose ...

image

But the weather wasn't bad for everybody ... (CW)

image

Two ducks enjoying the waters of Lake Webster near Willard's Woods (CW)

image

But now it is Saturday, the sun is out, and the people are, too. It's SPRING!!!
